THE MARKET

What We Do

We believe in better and more accurate methods for determining quality across a global industry.

The quality assurance process for nuts and grains is renowned for being labour intensive, slow and costly with excessive wastage and the potential risk of public health in some countries, such as detection of Aflatoxin B1.

Surenut’s fast and accurate objective analysis data is leading to its employment as an inline Optimizer for electronic sorters by Hullers and Processors. Currently electronic sorters are managed by technicians using both subjective checks and manual or digital fault counts. With these sorters consistently averaging 8 tonne per hour these checks are frequently 5 tonnes behind real time.

Hullers and Processors

The Surenut Analyser is able to give complete data analysis in near to real time to optimise quality during the hulling process, improve efficiency and reduce product damage.

A feature of the Surenut Analyser beyond its QA role is the ability to optimise electronic sorters during the hulling process. With this technology it is now possible to constantly monitor and adjust sorting machinery to meet client specifications in a single pass. Current processes still rely on subjective sorting decisions and separate instruments when measuring parameters such as;

  • foreign elements
  • managing chips and scratches
  • moisture

Obtaining this data in near to real time reduces manual checking by Hullers providing significant time savings and improved quality testing.

One-pass systems are now becoming mainstream (from the stockpile to the carton in one pass). Surenut’s Optimisation method can eliminate over and under sorting errors that deliver large time savings high-quality objective QA data, with less re-runs/recalls and eliminating over-sorting, keeping profits high.

Surenut wanted to achieve a full spectrum QA analysis digitally in one pass.

Our technology can be customised for sorting any specific parameters depending on customer requirements which saves time, delivers significant accuracy and increases buyer satisfaction. We are eliminating the risk of damage and wastage from offline analysis.

The Surenut Analyser system gives the ability to remove onsite inspectors and provide remote inspection, to give processing increased efficiency and agility in the marketplace. The net benefit of integrated digital QA creates more accurate and efficient systems for food safety and system monitoring from any location.

The inline data from the Surenut Analyser gives processors the ability to liaise quickly and confidently with marketing teams in parallel with its ability to compile DA reports. The real time data will also improve intake management and warehouse management.

Industries

Our technology is designed to be compatible across multiple industries to improve quality assurance methods on a global scale.

Almonds
SureNut technology has been proven to accurately detect aflatoxin B1 at levels down to 0.5 ppb at very high speeds of processing. The high accuracy is maintained with both skin off and on almonds, the first of its kind worldwide.

Cashews
Surenut will soon complete aflatoxin B1 testing of our technology on Cashews.

Macadamia
Surenut will soon complete aflatoxin B1 testing of our technology on Macadamia’s.

Peanuts
Aflatoxin is currently being detected using NIR where the kernel surface has some skin removed. Our method can accurately detect aflatoxin B1 through the shells and skin, informing operators earlier in processing.

Pistachios
We have successfully dosed pistachio’s (via the split in the shells) with calibrated rates of aflatoxin B1 and can accurately read those levels on the kernels through the shells.

UniSA dosed pistachio inshell accurately with 3 low rates of Aflatoxin B1 and Surenut accurately detected each level through the shell.  This exceptional outcome will greatly enhance the processing of Pistachio’s.

Walnuts
SureNut will trial our detection method for aflatoxin B1 with walnuts in 2022.

Maize and other grains
SureNut will test of our technology on grains in 2022, including maize and canola.
